NFL round-up, Week 10

Giants 36, Eagles 31: The team with 219 yards rushing and almost 40 minutes possessing the ball generally wins.  True here too.

Vikings 28, Bears 27:  Imagine if Adrian Peterson wasn’t prone to injury.  If he stays healthy he seems sure to go for 2,000 yards in a season.

Titans 21, Bears 14:  My hat’s off to the Titans, but they’re either going to start winning easier or they’re going to get rolled over by some team peaking at playoff time.

Panthers 17, Raiders 6:  That late Carolina field goal — and then Sebastian Janikowski’s 58-yard crossbar kiss — cost a lot of people money.  The spread was 8 1/2 points.

Jets 47, Rams 3: Know what?  The Jets D might be legit.  But the Rams aren’t exactly a good measuring stick.

Dolphins 21, Seahawks 19:  That quarterback combo of Chad Pennington and Ronnie Brown is doing wonders for Miami.

Colts 24, Steelers 20:  Ben Roethlisberger is too banged-up.  Had Byron Leftwich played the Steelers would have won.  Nice win for Indy, though.

Chargers 20, Chiefs 19:  Tyler Thigpen’s ready for primetime.  Tony Gonzalez is a Hall of Famer.  The Chiefs still suck.  But so does Norv Turner.

Ravens 41, Texans 13: Houston has a chance with Matt Schaub and doesn’t with Sage Rosenfels.  Baltimore has turned into a decent all-around team.  No longer can opponents count on an anemic Ravens offense.

Falcons 34, Saints 20:  Kudos to Atlanta for its turnaround.  Matt Ryan is looking solid as a rookie.  Meanwhile Drew Brees is suddenly on the Dan Marino career arc.

Patriots 20, Bills 10: Yup.  Buffalo’s not so impressive now, and New England’s riding BenJarvus Ellis-Green, a name that screams “New Orleans,” where he’s from.   Wes Welker moved ahead of his 2007 catch pace.

Broncos 34, Browns 30:  Jay Cutler and Brady Quinn, the new John Elway and Bernie Kosar?

Jaguars 38, Lions 10:  Somehow Jacksonville hasn’t made much of having both Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor.  Is Taylor done?  On the other side, whither Daunte Culpepper?

Cardinals 37, 49ers 17: Mike Singletary will not melt down on national television.
