This week a Midwestern black man in his mid 40s pulled off a big move. I’m talking about Joe Dumars, of course, trading Chauncey Billups for Allen Iverson. It might not be a good move for this year but almost certainly it helps the Pistons over time. And Dumars has a lengthy track record by now. Steady, prescient, decisive… methinks Dumars would be a good fit for the Obama administration.
What is it with 72-year-old U.S. senators and their nasty, dishonest campaigns? Elizabeth Dole is out, thanks in part to an ad she ran calling her opponent, a church elder and former Sunday school teacher, “godless.” She also lost in part because she seemed a bit out of touch with her constituents.
