McCain ad: “Gracious=weak”

This is pretty pathetic.  Reminds me of the movie advertisements that will pull “Spectacular… artistic!” from a review that says, “This is a spectacular failure of incredible proportions, with an utter lack of artistic vision.”

Perhaps I should let a professional handle this

James Fallows takes a John McCain point and flips it.

The debate with visuals

Via YouTube.  I’d already caught wind from reading that the most striking aspect of viewing was the unwillingness of John McCain to look at Barack Obama.
McCain looks old.  Not feeble, but far from fresh.  He’s constantly blinking.  He smiles at inappropriate times.  He looks angriest when he’s dropping his humorous asides — the “criminal or [...]

The debate without visuals

Listened on C-SPAN radio while driving in a downpour.  Heard a rough-and-tumble match with a good referee.  I like Jim Lehrer.
John McCain sounded like he knows a helluva lot more about what’s going on in the rest of the world than he does in the United States.  He came off better in this debate than he [...]

Marvelous and The Hit Man

Mentioning Sugar Ray Leonard got me thinking about some other great fights of the 1980s, when I was heavy into boxing.  The Marvin Hagler-Tommy Hearns bout exceeded all the hype, ’cause these guys brought the power and speed until the first of them was spent.  It’s amazing they made it past the first round.  Both of them [...]

Ralph Nader has a sense of humor?

Hat tip to Bill.

McCain says “No mas”

John McCain is calling to postpone the first Presidential debate and announcing the suspension his campaign so he can pitch in on the current economic crisis and proposed bailout.
John McCain is the most absent Senate member, hasn’t ever assumed a position of responsibility with regards to the economy, and most importantly knows he’s not a strong [...]

The work of today…

…is to come up with a wise plan for responding to the economic crisis we’re in.  It’s no wonder that so few people feel equipped to address the issues, though there’s a lot to the common eye that’s visibly askew.
How many people know right off the bat the difference between liquidity and solvency?

Uncertainty, unease

The headlines may well overcome the petty politics in the week leading up to the first Presidential debate on September 26th.
The latest bailout by the federal government is of insurance giant AIG and two legendary names in brokerage and investment banking, Merrill Lynch and Lehman, were chopped down over the weekend, while the dust from the Fannie Mae [...]
